Keith Claes (キ一ス・クラエス) is the third capture target in the game Fortune Lover and the adopted brother of Katarina Claes. He was adopted from a branch family because of his huge magical powers. He is treated coldly by his adoptive sister and adoptive mother. As a reaction to this lack of affection, he grew up to be a playboy.
He is formerly known as Keith Coleman (キース・コールマン) before he was adopted into the Claes Household.
Appearance[]
Keith is a handsome boy with flaxen hair and blue eyes. He wears a suit with a light purple waistcoat and a dark purple tie, under a long white and purple jacket.
Personality[]
Keith is a fine young man who grew up to be a hardworking and intelligent gentleman thanks to Katarina's encouragement. He is rather shy around other women, as he is not used to dealing with people who aren't as dense as Katarina. He is not good with dealing with physical affection, especially from his sister, and easily gets flustered over it. He is aware of his good looks and charm, and would use them when necessary (mostly involving Katarina). It is showed that he was scared of hurting the people he loves with his magic abilities, in which caused him to isolates himself from the world. This thinking was broken when Katarina went to apologize to him.
Background[]
According to Fortune Lover's information, Keith is the capture target that was adopted into the Claes family seven years ago for he was feared by his birth family for his powerful magic. Since he was neglected by his adoptive mother and abused by his adoptive sister, Keith had a lonely upbringing and became a playboy-type character because of it. When he entered school, his loneliness was supposed to be healed by the heroine and he would fall in love.
But to prevent that from happening, Katarina, who has recovered memories of her past life, has been pulling him out of his room every day. During this time, without Katarina having to pull him out anymore, they were always together as a result. Therefore, Keith never had grown up lonely this time. This way, the heroine would not heal his loneliness and, in turn, he should not fall in love with her. Consequently, according to Katarina's thoughts, the doom flag would be no longer.
However, Katarina still felt as if she had failed in preventing him from being a trashy playboy, since Katarina always told him that he has to “treat girls gently and kindly”, and as a result, Keith has become a gentlemanly ladies' man. Since he loyally obeyed his sister and treated women gently and kindly just as Katarina told him to, his life had a turn for the better. However, as the years passed and the lovely Keith matured, he has somehow become a man who emits lots of sex appeal just like in the game. By the time Katarina realized this, all the noble daughters, and even all the female servants were hanging on to him and the ladies' man had been completed.
Game Description[]
Fortune Lover[]
Keith's biological father was a distant relative of the Claes family, while his mother was a prostitute. In total, he has been raised by three different fathers. However, his mother was looked down upon by the Claes family for having been a prostitute, and he himself was also harassed greatly by the family members. One time, while he was being bullied, he invoked magic for the first time. His powerful magic injured his tormentors, and he ran off.
Meanwhile, Duke Claes had heard about his powerful magic, and decided to adopt him as his son. However, Keith wasn’t ever truly accepted in the Claes house, either. Katarina, who had been a spoiled only child up until then, hated suddenly getting an adopted younger brother. In addition, Duchess Claes misunderstood Keith to be an illegitimate child of Duke Claes, and her relationship with Duke Claes became icy.
Since he was disliked by both Katarina and the Duchess, even the servants were not able to do anything for him. Therefore, he mostly confined himself to his room and spent his time alone. As if to fill the loneliness within him, he grew up to be quite the playboy.
Later, at the start of the game, Keith met the heroine. At first, he made a pass at the commoner heroine only because commoners were so rare for him to meet, but she was able to envelop him in such kindness that it gradually healed his loneliness, and he became attracted to her. As a result, for the first time since he was born, he found someone he loved.
Game Routes[]
In Keith’s route, the hard-working villainess Katarina Claes was featured extensively. For getting close to the duke’s family, and Keith's easy manner of exchanges with the heroine, the commoner enraged Katarina’s noble consciousness, and she tormented the heroine endlessly.
- If the heroine captures Keith successfully, and gets the happy end, just like the time with Prince Geordo, since Katarina had been criminally harassing the couple, she was deprived of her status and exiled. After that, Keith left the Claes house and married the heroine after eloping together.
- If the heroine fails to capture Keith, and gets the bad end, Keith would be unable to protect the heroine from Katarina’s harassment, and Katarina would inflict a deep wound on the heroine that would not disappear. In his despair, Keith would use his strong magic power to murder his sister Katarina, and then disappear.
Fortune Lover II[]
Keith, in Fortune Lover II, returns as a capture target in the game. He begins to perform tasks in the Magic Ministry, which gives him an opportunity to pursue the protagonist.
Game Route[]
Throughout the game, while trying to gain the attention and affection of the capture targets, the heroine must also try to reveal the identity of the mysterious woman with dark magic that has been causing trouble in the Ministry
- If the heroine and Keith, the chosen capture target, reveal the identity of the mysterious figure, that person will then be arrested and the two will be able to live a happily ever after together
- If the heroine fails to reveal the identity of the mysterious figure, she and the culprit will duel each other and both die. All the capture targets, including Keith, will fall prey to dark magic.

Katarina Claes[]
In the game, Fortune Lover, Katarina, and Keith had a cold relationship. Due to her sometimes physical abuse towards him and general neglect from the mansion staff and his family, he became a playboy who vied for attention.
In the present timeline, because the current Katarina was able to prevent Keith from being lonely, their relationship instead became very positive. Unbeknownst to Katarina, instead of being a playboy like his game version, Keith had become a sis-con who is completely infatuated with Katarina and sees other people, like Geordo, as rivals. Keith is constantly worried about his sister, who is oblivious of how many people she unintentionally seduces.
During his final year in the Magic Academy, Keith was kidnapped by his older brother Thomas and the dark magician Sarah for an experiment. When Katarina saves Keith, he unconsciously kisses Katarina. When he wakes up again, he confesses that he loves her and reveals his feelings toward her that he had for eight years[3]. This makes Katarina finally aware of Keith's feelings. She begins to awkwardly treat him as a proper man and not just her little brother, though she would forget the confession most of the time. This would troubles Prince Geordo quite a lot.
In Verge of Doom, Katarina and Keith despise each other at first. After Katarina regains memories of her past life, she regrets her past conduct; so she tries her best to win over Keith and to become real siblings together (out of both regret and precaution). Keith reluctantly agrees to forgive her, but is wary of her sudden change and assumes that she has ulterior motives[4]. After their reconciliation, he desires to become closer with her and opens his eyes to the life and family that he had missed due to the misunderstandings about his background[5].
In Fortune Lover II, Keith is among the cast who will partake in the identification of the mysterious figure with dark magic, who is revealed to be Katarina herself. Keith would be involved in throwing Katarina in jail.
Millidiana Claes[]
In Fortune Lover, Keith was despised by his adoptive mother as she assumed that he was the son of her husband's mistress. Millidiana did not see or treat Keith as a son in any way, and would support Katarina's mistreatment of her younger brother.
In the present timeline, Millidiana loves him as a son, and would trust him more than she would with Katarina. She would trust Keith to take care of her older sister, and would use him to set an example for her of how a proper noble should act. Millidiana favors Keith over Katarina (due to him growing up more ideally than his sister), but loves them both very much.
In Verge of Doom, Millidiana continued to despise Keith up until he was 15 years old, until it was revealed during a picnic that Katarina insinuated that Keith is not an offspring of the Duke, and she started regretting her past treatment of him. The two still have an icy relationship, but Milidiana starts treating Keith more kindly, in an effort to make up for the misunderstanding that ruined his childhood[6].
Luigi Claes[]
Luigi loves his adopted son, Keith, and treats him as his own at the very moment he joined the family. He entrusts taking care of Katarina to his son.
Anne Sherry[]
Keith and Anne both share the responsibility of watching over and keeping Katarina in check, making them comfortable with each other. They would usually ally in scolding Katarina for her behavior and reporting back to Millidiana about Katarina's behavior and well-being.
Viscount Coleman[]
Viscount Coleman is Keith's biological father. Despite Keith being his biological son, he has no interest in him and neglects him. Viscount Coleman took Keith into the Coleman household at the age of 3. Although the Coleman brothers and the Viscount's wife harass Keith on a daily basis, the Viscount pays no heed and neglects Keith completely. Rather, Viscount Coleman was a despicable lustful man.
Keith's Birth Mother[]
Keith's biological mother was a commoner and a prostitute. She only felt remorse and despair from bearing him. She even tells him how she regrets giving birth to him.
Thomas Coleman[]
Keith's older biological brother, who hated him for being adopted into a rich and happy family by Duke Claes. Keith had no fond memories of his brothers, as they constantly abused him back when he lived with the Colemans. Keith, at one point, was kidnapped by Thomas, as his older brother desired to see him fall and die[7].
Friends[]
Maria Campbell[]
In Fortune Lover, Keith would be interested in Maria as she was a commoner who didn't seem to be attracted to him, and only desired her as a new plaything. Eventually, Keith would realize that Maria's desire for friendship is genuine and would desire her as a real friend. Eventually, Keith would have fallen in love with Maria and protect her from Katarina’s harassment. Keith also gets along mainly with Maria because of her commoner roots, as his mother is a commoner herself.
In the present timeline, Keith has no feelings whatsoever for Maria due to how Keith is in love with his adoptive older sister, the current Katarina, who had filled the void of Keith's loneliness in his early childhood. Thus, Keith was badly flabbergasted when the current Katarina had assumed Keith had fallen in love with Maria.
In Verge of Doom, Keith had attempted and failed to seduce Maria at one point, and kept her handkerchief as motivation to try once again. After discovering that Maria and Katarina are friends, he returns her handkerchief and teases her that it is something she would need if she desires to be Katarina's friend, given his adoptive sister's troublesome nature. He had seemingly lost interest in flirting with her after that, now seeing Maria as a friend to his sister rather than a potential new playdate[8].
Geordo Stuart[]
In Fortune Lover, Keith and Geordo were rivals for Maria's affection. As a result, they often protect Maria from Katarina.
In the present timeline, Keith and Geordo are rivals for Katarina's affection. When Geordo makes advances towards Katarina, Keith is usually the one to intervene in his advances. Keith often quarrels with Geordo that his sister does not have what it takes to become a queen, while Geordo counters that she doesn't have to be. He would often come between Geordo and Katarina when they are together by coming unannounced to his invitations. Keith does not trust Geordo when he is around Katarina, and is always assuming the worst intentions from the prince, especially when it comes to his advances.
Mary Hunt[]
In the present timeline, Keith and Mary are good friends thanks to Katarina. The two would often ally with each other in getting in between Geordo and Katarina.
Nicol Ascart[]
Keith and Nicol are acquaintances, and eventually friends, thanks to the friendship between their sisters, Katarina and Sophia. They would often watch over their sisters together during their book reading sessions ever since they were all children, and would chat with each other during those days.

Earth Magic[]
Keith possesses powerful Earth Magic, making him one of the strongest known magic users in the series, alongside Maria. With his magic, he can create Dirt Dolls of any size that he can control to do his bidding. In his Character Profile, it says that his magical power is rated a 5 on a 5-point scale[9].
Supporting Big Sister[]
In his Character Profile, it says that his special skill is supporting Katarina, or his ability to get her out of trouble especially when regarding their mother[10].
