Ginger Tucker (ジンジャー・タッカー) is a member of the student council in the Magic Academy during Katarina's final year. After Katarina and her friends graduate, she will step in as the new vice president.
Appearance[]
Ginger is a girl with brown hair and eyes. She is described as not being particularly beautiful, but has a similar figure to Katarina.
Personality[]
Ginger is a straight-to-the-point and brutally honest person, who doesn't typically think of her words. She is honest and good-natured, which people interpret as rude and curt due to her personality. She is very serious and somewhat cold on the outside, but she is a good and kind person deep down. Katarina described her as a tsundere, as she would typically blush and act embarrassed when talking about things and people she likes. She is an incredibly smart girl, who hates stupid and incapable people because she thinks that they whine without actually trying.
Background[]
Ginger is the twelfth daughter of a countryside baron who was no more financially capable than a regular commoner. Ginger has lots of siblings from many mothers, as her father was a womanizer. Her mother died shortly after she was born, and she never found any relatives of hers from that side of her family. Despite being of nobility, she attended a commoner school because her father doesn't prioritize her among her countless siblings. She wasn't particularly beautiful, although intelligent, so her father doesn't acknowledge her existence. As her family isn't rich in anyway, she doesn't have much physical possessions to use and cherish, such as dresses[1].
After Ginger hit 12 years old, she had shown signs of magical aptitude, leading her father to shower her with attention and praise after ignoring her for years. She became the first person in the Tucker bloodline to possess magic, leading her to become the priority of the family. Despite her attempts to leave the family, she is constantly dragged back to the household so that Baron Tucker can brag about her to his fellow barons. The sudden appreciation and attention made Ginger hate her father even more, and her step-siblings and stepmothers hating her for stealing away the Baron's love[2].
Despite having a very low magic aptitude, Ginger was able to become a part of the student council for her intelligence and skill. She had become the target to a lot of noble's jealousy and hatred, as she was a low-ranking noble who had gained a spot in the student council during the period when the twin princes of the kingdom are also enrolled. Her low status and position in the student council leads her to be bullied by her peers, leaving her with very few friends of her age.
Relationships[]
Fray Randall[]
Ginger and Fray have become close friends thanks to their time in the academy. Fray was one of the few classmates in her year that didn't discriminate Ginger for being a baroness. Fray's kind treatment of her, as well as the fact that they are both in the student council, lead them to become friends. She doesn't understand why Fray likes to be around her despite their difference and status, but notices that Fray always mentions the fact that she finds her very "interesting".
Due to Ginger's brash nature, Fray is always the one apologizing for her behavior and helps keep her friend straight. Since Ginger doesn't make her admiration of Katarina obvious, Fray would often tease her about it. They would often act and is seen as partners[3].
Katarina Claes[]
Ginger is an underclassman that Katarina enjoys being around. She would usually be slightly cold and brutally honest to Katarina about comparing her to the other student council members. Deep down, Ginger is a huge fan of Katarina who admires and respects her a lot. She would blush deeply and become timid at any attention that Katarina gives her.
The two became acquainted when Ginger finds Katarina's fields and watches her harvest some vegetables. Katarina finds Ginger and offers new harvests to her, which she unconsciously accepts. Despite being a baron that is no different from a commoner, Ginger had never eaten fresh vegetables before, leading her to be very impressed by Katarina's field. After the event, Katarina had tried to become friends with Ginger, but she would avoid the Duke's daughter due to her status and because she thought she was a weird person. She was very wary and unnerved by Katarina's kindness as she assumed it was just an act or a façade. Her opinion of the Duke's daughter eventually changed as she overhears Katarina defend her (calling her "kind, cute and a tsundere") to the other junior student council members who was badmouthing her in the student council room. Ginger felt embarrassed and thankful to Katarina for finding interest in her. She would later on blow gusts of wind to noblewomen who are badmouthing Katarina in front of her fiancée, in order to secretly return the favor[4].
Unbeknownst to Ginger, Katarina is very attached to her. During Katarina's graduation, Ginger avoided giving her admired upperclassman a typical bouquet of flowers and went instead for a bag of assorted sweets, as she knew she would like those better than flowers[5].
Maria Campbell[]
Ginger is an underclassman of Maria, and fellow student council members. Ginger would often compare her situation with Maria's, but knows draw the line due to the difference in their magic. After Ginger gains Katarina's interest, Maria starts to interact and aid her when they are together in the council room.
Abilities[]
Wind Magic[]
Ginger is capable of using Wind magic, although her magic aptitude is very weak. She notes that her aptitude is almost as weak as Katarina's.
Intelligence[]
Despite having a low magical aptitude, she was able to join the student council through her intellect and skill.
