Raphael Walt (ラファエル・ウォルト) or formerly Sirius Dieke (シリウス・ディーク) is a hidden character in the first part of the otome game Fortune Lover.
As Sirius, he was the student council president and a side character in Fortune Lover. As Raphael, he is the vice-head under the Magic Tools Laboratory of the Magic Ministry and a capture target in Fortune Lover II.
Appearance[]
He has brilliant red hair and grey eyes. He wears a white long-sleeved collar shirt with a grey cardigan, under a long brown jacket. He wears long brown pants folded slightly to reveal long brown boots.
While in the Magic Ministry, his hair is dyed brown by his boss, Larna.[2]
Personality[]
As Sirius under the surface, he displays a professional demeanor and is a kind person willing to help anyone. Showing no prejudice towards people as he is willing to accept Maria despite the fact she is a commoner. In reality, Sirius is a very hateful person who holds a deep grudge against the Marquess family this is mostly due to the curse that was placed on him. He is not complying with evil during Maria's captivity; he took care of her never striking her and is even giving her a proper meal. As Raphael, he is a very kind individual and is very helpful he regrets his actions as Sirius.
Despite still being very caring and kind, he has a cunning side to him that he does not show. This trait is shared with Maria when they were stated to be secretly associated with an organization that plans to break off Katarina and Geordo's engagement.[3] His impressions as a laborious man leads him to dumped with paperwork during his stay in both the Magic Academy and the Magic Ministry, which he unwillingly accepts, showing that he is responsible but always tired and sleep-deprived.
Background[]
Previously known as Sirius Dieke, an illegitimate son of Marquis Dieke from a maid. In the town he lives, he was constantly being picked on though he has never told his mother. However, he and his mother were kidnapped by Marquess Dieke. She felt inferior to Rafael's mother who was both beautiful and bore a healthy and handsome son while Marquess Dieke has a sickly son named Sirius Dieke. Marquess Dieke revealed her intention of both robbings the life and magic of Rafael and his mother.
A forbidden ritual happened and Raphael's mother died after her magic was moved to Sirius and Sirius died afterward his soul was extracted and merged to Raphael's body. Raphael became Sirius however, despite the merging of Sirius and Raphael's memories, Raphael still dominated his mind. After the forbidden ritual, Raphael obtained dark magic, and the men who had done the ritual were mercilessly killed by the Marquess. However, the moment that happened, one of the men cast a curse on Raphael which manipulated him to pursue revenge.
Game Description[]
Fortune Lover[]
As Sirius, he is a minor character that appears in the game as the student council president during the time period of the game. He is a seemingly kind and hardworking student, but is secretly a dangerous person that has dark magic.
Game Routes[]
- If the heroine captures Sirius successfully, he will realize the error of his ways, and she will rid him of his dark magic. The two will live happily ever after.
- If the heroine fails to capture Sirius, he will kill the heroine and all her friends in the student council.
Fortune Lover II[]
Raphael, in Fortune Lover II, returns as a capture target in the game under his real name. He began to work in the Magic Ministry prior to the events of the game and is one of the protagonist's superiors.
Game Route[]
Throughout the game, while trying to gain the attention and affection of the capture targets, the heroine must also try to reveal the identity of the mysterious woman with dark magic that has been causing trouble in the Ministry.
- If the heroine and Raphael, the chosen capture target, reveal the identity of the mysterious figure, that person will then be arrested and the two will be able to live a happily ever after together
- If the heroine fails to reveal the identity of the mysterious figure, she and the culprit will duel each other, and both die. All the capture targets, including Raphael, will fall prey to dark magic.

Katarina Claes[]
In Fortune Lover, Sirius (Raphael) and Katarina are merely acquaintances due to Geordo's position in the student council. In Fortune Lover II, Raphael is among the cast who will partake in the identification of the mysterious figure with dark magic, who is revealed to be Katarina herself. Raphael would be involved in throwing Katarina in jail.
In the present, upon first meeting her as Sirius, he displayed a kind demeanor towards her, even allowing her to hang around the Student Council room. He even offers her tea, which he makes himself. In reality, he despises her to the point of calling her a hypocrite, and sarcastically calls her savior. On one occasion, he created intensely detailed, albeit untruthful documentation about Katarina's supposed bullying of Maria. He went so far as to use Dark Magic on his fellow classmates to manipulate them into reading these false grievances publicly. All this, as an attempt to get Katarina expelled, as his blossoming feelings for her began to cloud his judgment. In their final confrontation, Katarina offers to stay by his side and reveals his true name: Raphael. Katarina's kindness turns him away from vengeance and frees him from the grip of Dark Magic.[4]
Raphael is among many admirers of Katarina who is determined to break or delay her and Geordo's marriage, so he had used his connections with Larna and Maria to motivated Katarina into working in the ministry in order to be able to spend more time with her. Currently, Raphael and Katarina are co-workers in the Magic Tools Laboratory of the Magic Ministry.[5]
In Verge of Doom, Sirius and Katarina are merely acquaintances due to Geordo's position in the student council. Sirius would often be berated by Katarina for interrupting her attempts at conversing with Prince Geordo, neglecting Sirius' position as the president.
Maria Campbell[]
In Fortune Lover, Sirius (Raphael) and Maria are both parts of the student council. In Fortune Lover II, the two are co-workers in the Magic Ministry, though they are in different departments.
In the present, Sirius (Raphael) and Maria had a very friendly relationship during their days in the Magic Academy. He was the first one to treat Maria nicely in the student council, as he saw her as someone he can use to enact his revenge against the Marquess. For a short period of time, he despised Maria due to losing the sense of camaraderie he felt between them after she became friends with Katarina. After he is set free from Dark Magic, he continues to be a good friend to Maria. He admits that if he was not in love with Katarina, he would have been charmed by Maria's beauty and kindness.[6]
Nicol Ascart[]
Nicol is Sirius' (Raphael)'s childhood friend. He was one of the first to notice Nicol's changing behavior upon meeting Katarina.
Larna Smith[]
As the vice-director of the Magic Tools Laboratory in the Magic Ministry, Raphael takes over all of Larna's paperwork, as she is usually missing on the job. Raphael is grateful for Larna's interest in him, as no other director was willing to take him as part of their department during his arrival at the ministry. He is usually unwilling to carry all the paperwork, but has no choice but to do so. He respects Larna as his boss, but is not afraid to be upset at her for not being around the ministry.[7]
Sora Smith[]
Sora and Raphael are co-workers in the Magic Tools Laboratory of the Magic Ministry. Raphael is the one who teaches Sora how to write and organize paperwork, as he is not used to performing desk work.[8]

Wind Magic[]
Raphael's magical element is Wind. In his Character Profile, it says that his magical power is rated a 4 on a 5-point scale.[9]
Dark Magic[]
Due to the forbidden ritual insinuated by Marquess Dieke, Raphael gains the ability to use Dark Magic. At the end of Volume 2, it is revealed that he was mostly just borrowing the Dark Magic, as he was being possessed by the Dark Magician that conducted the failed sacrifice attempt by the Marquess.
Handling Paperwork[]
In his Character Profile, it says that one of his special skills is cleaning up after his boss[10]. He is also very reliable when it comes to paperwork; he would get dump with mountains of paperwork but is capable of handling them, despite his annoyance.
Brewing Good Tea[]
In his Character Profile, it says that one of his special skills is brewing good tea. His tea has a very gentle flavor, that Katarina can immediately recognize.[11]
Trivia[]
- It is stated that he can give really good back massages, though he is the one who is in need of it the most.[12]
- In the original translation of Volume 5, it is stated that Raphael's original magic is wind, but in the English translations of the light novels, it says that his magic is Light.
- It is implied in Episode 7 that Sirius could have been the one who saved Katarina and Sophia from falling from a cliff during their magic exams, supporting the idea that his original magic was Wind.
- In the light novels and manga, it is stated that his disguises are done by his boss Larna;[13] while in the anime it is done via a magic ring tool from the Magic Ministry.[14]
